Athens was illuminated last night. Demonstrations were staged and bands were playing everywhere. The streets were crowded with excited Royalists singing and firing revolvers in the air. Exiled opposition leaders may shortly be allowed to return. General Kondylis said: “A new era has opened. There will be n 0 more of Greeks belonging to parties, but only the King’s united and faithful subjects. ’ Members of the Greek Cabinet have formally taken the oath of allegiance to King George, whose portrait hangs in all the schools.
