INSPECTION OF FACTORIES ECONOMIC REFORM THE AIM CBy lelograp.*—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Sept. 11. At a conference to-day between the Dairy Commission, members of the Dairy Board and delegates from factories in the Manawatu and West Coast areas, the following resolution was carried: — With the object of conducting an economic survey within the territory from Otaki to Taibape, the commission be requested: (1) To make an inspection of each factory with regard to its location, capacity and equipment and manufacturing and cream collection costs. (2) To make each company give evidence separately in camera regarding manufacturing operations, cream collection and the like. ■ (3) To arrange for an independent examination by qualified persons of the operating costs of each company. (4) To collect other evidence necessary for the purpose of ascertaining the true comparative statement of the position. (5) To advise companies of the procedure to bring about any desirable reform. The commission was also asked to appoint two dairy company secretaries to make the detailed investigation asked for.
