Spring Racing Opens

Two and Three-year-old Fields interest will be centred in the second day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting- on Saturday, which marks the first appearance of the season’s two-year-olds in the Dominion and also stages the first classic of the new racingyear. The Debutante Stakes will afford owners and trainers an opportunity to give their youngsters a race to sharpen them up for important spring engagements, while the Guineas should give a great line on the possibilities of several prospective Derby candidates. There will be much more interest than usual in South Taranaki concerning these two races, for the local stables are very strongly represented in both events.
