SCHOOLBOYS’ LUCKY ESCAPE
INVOLVED IN CAR CRASH SPILL NEAR NEW PLYMOUTH Six schoolboys had a miraculous escape from serious injury or even death, late yesterday afternoon, when a saloon car driven by Wynn Davies, a New Plymouth Boys’ High School pupil, turned over on the main road, the hood collapsing. Of the six occupants three are from the Auckland Grammar School and are taking part in the quadrangular Rugby tournament.
They were returning from North Egmont when the car developed a wheel wobble as it reached the creot of a hill. The driver completely lost control and the car crossed the road tw ic e and struck a severe bump. It leapt into the air and turned over, landing flafc on the hood, which was totally demolished. All of the six occupants suffered severely from shock, but only one received minor abrasions.
