Children in fancy dress —Little Red 1 Ruling Hood and the from from his pool, the clown and the jester, ching chong Chinaman, Brerr Rabbitt and j Columbine—all in a whirl of makebolieve. The second term ended yesterday and the Turuturu School last night “broke-up” for the August holidays by- holding a bail at the Fores’ ters’ Hall. By 8 o’clock there was standing room only for many iu the large audience of adults, the children occupying the centre portion of the dance floor, which was enclosed by seats. Well-trained by their teachers the tiny tots opened the programme with a grand march in simple formation and then followed the older boy» and girls, who took part in a more intricate parade. Every child wore fancy dress and the spectacle was as gay in colour as it was animated. A varied programme of dances was enjoyed under the . supervision of the headmaster (Mr L. M. Fail-brother/, who maintained excellent control In his capacity as master of ceremonies. He was assisted by class teachers. Mrs F. M. Gerrand and Miss L. Lawn, and by Mrs Fairbrother, and music was supplied by Mrs Beauchamp and Miss Lawn. During the evening a toyland trio presented novelty solo dances, the performers including Marie Cox (black and silver fairy, toe dance), Rosalie Hopkins (frog hops) and Zoe Lippingwell (golliwog gallops). The music for this presentation was played by Miss Gwen Chadwick). Members of the school committee were present and rendered vanluable assistance and the wives of committeemen and other helpers wore responsible for the hall decorations and the serving of a fruit salad supper with sandwiches, cakes and soft drinks. Parents responded most generously in contributions of table delicacies.
