HAWERA TRACK NOTES

THIS MORNING’S WORK A LITTLE GALLOPING DONE J LINK DIVINE LEAVES (By “Childers”) Although the grass tracks have not yet been reopened owing to the web weather, there was a little galloping at Hawera this morning, when the sand was used by candidates for New Plymouth. Provided no further rain falls before Saturday, the trial grass should again be fit for use then, as it is drying rapidly. Lowanberg (Monkley) and Fersen (Adlam) worked twice round at an easy pace to run home the las.t three furlongs in 40 3-ss, with Fersen going slightly the better. Fersen hit out most attractively and was pulling hard over the final stages, Lowenberg also being under restraint. Both are in excellent order for New Plymouth. '' Panloff (Sheild) and Just Off (Fea- ■ sey) were associated over a mile, the I last six furlongs of which occupied 1.28 1-5. They went at a first, bat early, but were on terms at the close, when both appeared to be tiring. Just Off is improving steadily and his prospects for New Plymouth look bright.

Bantry (Cliote) did not impress over half a mile, occupying 57 i-ss. He worked very lazily, particularly over the final'stages, when lie had to ho kept up to his task. However, he would probably have gone much more freely iu company. Among those given useful pacework on either tho sand or oval were Ruri, Alchemic, Stanchion, Celeste,' St. Clara, Oncwhe.tu, Carfcx, Notium, Arouse, Supreme Court, Soloist, Buafurm, Ingenuity, Sylvanus,. Bay Sand, Careful, Knockout, Friesland, Glenthawn, Master Limond,, Colossus-

Just So filly, Colossus—Maid of Gowrie mare, Oriel and Topthorn. J. Brown left for Auckland last night with Link Divine, who will sail for Sydney to-morrow in charge of her owner, Mr Walter Kirkland. She will go straight on to Melbourne, where sho will enter P. Quinlan’s stable. This three-yearlold daughter of Captain Bunsby and Silver Link is in great order at present and her recent track work has been first-class. She should r.o ready to race very soon after landing, and as she will commence in the maiden class, it should not be long before she opens her "Winning account. It is rather unfortunate that Link Divine has no classic engagements in Australia, as she gives every indication of being a cut above the average.
