GAMING HOUSES RAIDED
TWO MEN PLEAD GUILTY. FINES' OF £7O AND £35 IMPOSED. (By Telegraph—Tress Association.) . WHAKATANE, Aug; 15. As a sequel to a. raid on premises at Whakatane, Joe Plumas and J. Mcßryde pleaded guilty before justices of the peace to-day to keeping common gaming houses. Tho raid ivas. made by Detective-Sergeant McLeod, and Sergeant Miller. A quantity of betting material Avas found in both men’s premises. Plumas, AA'ho had a previous conviction, avus fined £7O. Six months ago he Avas fined £35. Mcßryde aalio, De-tective-Sergeant McLeod stated, avus ncAv at the game; was fined £25. Tavo men found on Plumas’ premises were convicted and ordered to come up for sentence AA'lien called upon Avitliin 12 months. ‘
