HAWKE’S BAY BEAT CANTERBURY .SCORE 24 POINTS TO 5 (By . TelegrapU—Press, Association.) " . HASTINGS, Aug. 15. As the result of better understanding and combination among the backs the Hawke’s Bay Rugby representatives beat Canterbury at Hastings today- by 24 points to 5.; Canterbury had the help of a strong wind in the first half. Hawke’s Bay obtained the first score 15 minutes after the start when Collett broke away to send Haniiigan over. The kick missed the goal. Le Quesne was responsible for the second score when,from a scrum at half-way, he cut cleanly, through the defence to pass to Bradley, who sent Rolls over. Webb goaled. ; • The next try came when Clothier, the Hawke’s Bay half, ran round the blind side from a scrum on the Hawke’s Bay twenty-five, then passed to Patcliett-at half-way for the winger to evade Brown an Eathorne and score after a great run.
