BOXING AT HAWERA

TO-NIGHT’S BIG CONTEST. BOTH MEN VERY FIT. Heavy hookings from a wide area clearly show that -exceptional interest is being taken in the professional boxing contest to be held at the Hatvera Opera. House to-night between Jack Jarvis and Harry Hughes. Both men have completed their training preparations satisfactorily and will strip in the pink of condition. Jarvis has never been in hotter order and is very confident of taking the major honours. Hughes is equally confident and expects to put up the best showing of his career. He impressed local critics when training at Bon Johnston’s gym. on Monday night. “Pop” Gordon, of Patea, and “Ben” Johnston will be in Hugjres’ corner to-night. As usual, the amateur matchings are first class and cue only needs to glance at- the names of Clarrie Gordon, Len Huzziff, Maddern, R.. Huzziff, Fitzwater and Sc-hou ni ans ki to assure oneself of this fact.
