OLD BOYS LOSE TO OKAIAWA A FTER a break oi! a fortnight the Taranaki senior Rugby competition was resumed on Saturday, when the championship was virtually decided, in the defeat of Hawera by Stratford by 20 points to 6. By the win, Stratford is five points ahead of any other team in the competition and it is unlikely that they will be defeated. ' Kaponga and Star played at Kaponga and the. match resulted in a win for the home fifteen by 25 points to 11. Tukapa defeated United Old Boys at New Plymouth by 14 points to 5, while Inglewood were defeated by Opunakc at Inglewood by 14 points to 9. Clifton and Eltham fought a bloodless draw at Eltham, while Okaiawa defeated New* Plymouth Old Boys at New Plymouth by 22 points to 12. Patea, with two fourth grade substitutes in the team, were defeated by Waimate at Manaia by 6 points to 3. The match at Stratford was one of the best attended club matches'this season, there being- an attendance of well over 1000, including many from Hawera. Stratford led 4—o at half-time, but after the interval the home team adopted bustling tactics and effectively stopped any Hawera back attacks.
