Lieutenant Joseph Chamberlain, .son of Sir Austen Chamberlain, who is serving with the trans-Jordan frontier force, is reported to have been captured by Wahabis while on a pleasure excursion with a patrol in Hedjaz territory. A later message says the “Sunday Express” is informed that Xiient. Chamberlain was in 'charge of two army transport ears when he inadvertently crossed the frontier and was detained.
A Foreign Office official told the “Sunday Times” that the land was all desert, and there ' was nothing To mark the border. It really was a comedy of errors, and there was no illfeeling. Lieut. Chamberlain’s release had been arranged through diploma 17c channels.
