It was stated in reply to a question in House of Commons, that, although the position regarding Sino-Japanese relations is still confused, according to the latest reports the differences which recently occurred in North China are in the process of liquidation and the situation has become easier. It was further stated that British interests and treaty rights in North China had not been affected, by recent events and the situation did not call for any special British action.
