THREE COTTAGES DESTROYED

OUTBREAK AT KAIKOURIA. LITTLE FURNITURE SAVED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 27. Tlir do five-roomed cottages in Brighton Street, Kaikoura, were destroyed hy fire at 3 o’clock this morning. The fire started in the kitchen of the middle cottage and spread to those on cither side. The houses were occupied bv J. Nicholson, V. Wright and Mrs C. A. Cooke, Mrs Cooke’s cottage being the property of the J. Prince estate. Some of Mrs Cooke’s furniture was saved, but in the other two cottages everything was burned.
