POOR GOAL=KICKING JOSWAKDS LACK CONDITION PLAY BRIGHTENS INTERMITTENTLY (From Our Lit Imm Correspondent.) At Eltbam on Saturday Eltham met and. defeated Strut turd . United Old Boys .by Id points, to nil, scored lrom tries by Whiting, Young anil Bourke. Leutlmiii converted twice. The game was only a lair exposition oi' the code with occasional flashes .of brilliance. Numerous penalties siowed lip the game, and many easy chances to goal were lost by Old Boys. During the first spell the Eltham backs combined in good style, but towards the closing stages lack of condition was evident. On the other hand, Old Bovs' backs played with renewed vigour during .the latter part of the game, opening up numerous movements, which Were .spoilt by lack of finish.

Worthington fed his hacks and the ball went to Young who, with a brilliant run and swerve, beat Stanley to score. Lciatham converted. —Eltham 5, Old Bovs 0.
Old Boys retaliated with a nice passing (rush, hut Young secured and found touch. Townsend secured from the line out and placed Eltham in difficulties by hanging on. From a scrum Townsend handled to White, who made a fine solq dash to Stanley, and transferred to Whiting, who raced to cross for a try which Leatham tailed to convert. —Eltham 8, Old Boys (1. The play at this stage was of a very ragged nature, neither side'handling well. Old Boys came away in-a loose movement headed by Bonner, and when Eltham were in obvious difficulty a free kick gave relief. With a fine rally led by Petersen and I*'. Bocock, Eltham gained much ground. Bourke secured from the scrum and crossed at the corner. Leatham added points with a good kick.—Eltham. 13, Old Boys 0. Petersen secured the kick-off from Heath and made a brilliant run. catching Stanley .in possession. A free kick was awarded to Eltham. Leatham failed with the kick.
