Mrs J. Stewart left by car yesterday to spend a holiday in Wellington.
Mrs C. Burgess, of New Plymouth, was a visitor to Hawera for the weekend.
After spending a fortnight’s holiday in Wellington, Miss M. C. Power and M iss May Wilson returned last weekend.
Mr and Mrs O. Iv. Tennent and family leave in a fortnight’s time to reside in the South Island, Mr Tennent having l>eon appointed manager of the Dunedin branch of the Bank of Australasia.
Miss Margaret Tennent was hostess at three tables of progressive bridge on Tuesday night, when the guests included Misses. J. Powdrell, K. Coleman, A. Wills, B. Powdrell and A. Kemp. The hostess wore a. frock of cream organdie patterned in primrose, with a jade green, taffeta coatee. Prizes for highest scores were won by Miss Kemp and Mr C. Nicholson. Bowls of late chrysanthemums and irises decorated the room when Mrs H. It. Kemp was hostess at tea on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Kemp’s frock was of wine coloured corded silk, relieved with beige lace. The guests included Mesdames G. Bayley, Cayley-Alexander, G. A. Burgess, It. j Malcolm, C. TI. Washer, C. Bayley, ; W. F. Buist, H. T. Lovell, L. A. , Ablett and Miss J. McDonald. | Miss E. Elliott entertained friends j at bridge last Friday night, when the prize for the highest score was won by Mrs A. Hall. Miss Elliott’s frock I was of black lace. Miss N. Elliott wearing black velvet. Others present were Mesdames H. D. Caplen, W. A. Duckworth, H. T. Lovell, W. S. Gibson, Norman, Misses B. Pease, S. Lovell, N. Duckworth, J. Gilchrist (Te Aroha) and D. Eichardson.
