Walter McGee, the first person in the United States to be sentenced to deatli for kidnapping, had his death sentence commuted to life imprisonment at Jefferson City, Missouri, today. The victim of the kidnapping was Mary MeElroy, who was abducted two years ago. She was chained in a cellar for 29 hours and released unharmed after 30,000 dollars in ransom Was paid. McGee was the ringleader of the kidnapping gang.
