ANNUAL CONFERENCE OPENS. AMENDMENT TO ACT WANTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 26. The friendly societies of New Zealand conference opened to-day. It was decided to endeavour to get an amendment to the Friendly Societies Act to provide that no deduction he made by insurance companies from the amounts payable under the Workers’ Compensation Act in the cases of .fatal accidents. , The , executive was empowered to meet hospital hoards to try to secure uniformity in the rates of contribution throughout the Dominion.
