Allegations' thait Maurice William Baker, a commercial artist, obtained 1 sums amounting to £2(X) from a man named Moyle, a retired solicitor, by false pretences, were made in a case in the Supreme Court, in which Moyle was charged with obtaining two cheques by false pretences, also with theft. Moyle answered an inserted in the Press by the accused in order to provide a position for a young man who had been in his employ, and he interviewed accused, who. it- was stated, represented that ho had _a car practically his own property, and was practically debt free, but required capital. Tho young man was taken on at £3 a. week, and Moyle advanced £IOO and later another £IOO. to enable ACQiMied to buy share* in Wcobvcrths
