A STRICT UPBRINGING
The system under which the younger members of the Royal Family were brought up has been described by those in intimate touch with them as almost Spartan in its strictness. In their earliest years a certain Mrs Gill presided over the destinies of Princess Mary and her brothers, and there is no doubt that her ideas have profoundly influenced the Prince of Wales and his brothers and sister. Below, stairs, as well as above, the keynote of the dealings of the Royal Family with those dependent upon them has been kindness, consideration, and invariable courtesy.
