MAKE THIS X-RAY
This is a very wonderful piece of apparatus, vet it costs practically nothing to ni^ke. You. will want nice downy feathers with the threads undamaged. If there are any slits in the delicate parts, carefully smooth them out. Now, obtain two cards, each, about four inches square. Find the centre of each, then draw on them a circle with a diameter of three inches and cut out the central part. So far, you are probably wondering what all this will lead to. Well wait a little longer and proceed with the construction. Take one of tho cards and place the feathers neatly across the opening.;., then -glue the. second card so that it overlaps, the first and grips the feathers in position. Of course, it is Dot easy to arrange feathers in an orderly manner; what you should aim at is to fill the whole of the circle with smooth down, without more open spaces or overlapping than is necessary. Now for the mystery. Ilold up your hand in front of an electric light bulb. Your hand merely looks a black silhouette. Place the feather grid be-, tweeq your eyes and your hand, and close to the latter. For some mysterious reason, you now see your hand as thought it wore an X-ray pieture-r?-the bones are black outlines, the flesh is semi-transparent, and so on.
