TO RACE THE ENDEAVOUR

AME RICAN FOR ENGLAND. ENTHUSIASM ALREADY EVIDENT. Gerard 8.. Lambert, wdio has sailed the Vanitie a number of years and now has purchased the Yankee, expects to take the latter to England and race the America’s Gup challenger, Endeav our, of last fall and other 'British yachts, including King George’s Britannia, next summer, states a New York correspondent. Lambert has made no announcement further than a statement that he might send Yankee abroad. * Ine is expected from him shortly. Yankee is at Lawley’s shipyard in Neponset below Boston w r here its interior is being remodelled in full British fashion with comfortable cabin. King George has ordered further renovations in the time-honour-ed royal racing yacht in the expectatios that it will meet the Yankee.

In 1928 there was a prospect of a large American sloop racing abioad. That was when it was proposed to take the Katoura overseas. Two large yachts were built to meet it. They were' the Astra and Cambria. Katoura did not come up to expectations and the plan was not carried 'through;
