HAROLD LOGAN’S SUCCESS IMPROMPTU BEATEN IN MATCH WAIKATO PRINCE DISQUALIFIED

(By Telegraph —Press Association.) j WANGANUI, April 13. Boisterous wind marred the concluding day of the Wanganui Trotting Club’s second meeting, adversely affecting the attendance. The totalizator handled £5322 10s, compared with £4608 10s last year, making a total for the two days of £10,072, against An inquiry was held after the Ballance Handicap into the improvement shown by the winner Modern Lady and into the running of Waikato Prince. The placing* were unaltered, the stewards accepting the explanation tendered by Hackle, driver of Modern Lady, but they disqualified E, R Smith, owner of Waikato P™ for six months on the grounds that the horse was not driven to win. bmit i is giving notice of appeal. In a special challenge match race over a mile Harold Logan defeated Impromptu by a length after losing four lengths at the start through failing to strike his gait. Impromptu ranged alongside Harold Logan three furlongs from home, but the veteran pacbr held him off.
