At the Harrow tennis tournament in the quarter-final Austin defeated Stedman 6—3, s —-7, 6 —4. The “Times” says that Austin paid the price of slackening in the second set, when Stedman, who was down I—s, won six games in succession, every one of which he earned with a dashing forehand. In the third set, he pressed Austin hard, the Englishman’s victory proving very unsatisfying.
