PRINTERS’ STRIKE CALLED OFF

DECISION AT WELLINGTON. 5 PER CENT. WAGE INCREASE. (Bt —Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 2S. The Newspaper Proprietors’ Association and the Master Printers’ Association were informed at 5.40 p.m. to-day that the printers’ strike, which had been in operation at Wellington since March IS, had been declared “off.” The workers will resume as from 7 a.m. on Friday.

The workers are returning on the terms offered by the employers during the hearing by the Conciliation Council some weeks ago. This means an increase of wages by the restoration of the cut (approximately 5 per cent.) made in January, 1933, and some concessions in working conditions of value to the men concerned. Work was • resumed, in all branches of the industry this morning.
