CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER

POST-MORTEM EXAMINATION ACCUSED’S VOLUNTARY STATEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. Joseph Frederick David Clarkson, aged 34, drapers assistant, charged before Mr E. Mosley, S.M., that on March 17 he unlawfully killed Adeline Mary Bradley, aged 22, thereby committing manslaughter, was remanded to April 9. Bail was allowed, £IOO (self) and one surety of £IOO.

The police said a post-mortem examination showed that the condition which led to the girl’s death had been caused by a certain act. The accused had come of his own accord to a detective and admitted his connection with the affair, saying he wanted to get it off his mind. He was a well-known citizen of good repute.
