Kapuni W.D.F.U.

Tho Kapuui branch, of tho Women’s Division held a successful garden party at the residence of Mr and Mrs S. Collins, Rowan Road. There was a large attendance and the afternoon was spent in games and competitions and a cricket match btween. the married and single men. Chain-stepping was won by- Mrs -Peter Cameron and Mr J. D. Robertson, and nail-driving by Mrs H. Whalen and Mrs J. W. Cameron. Clock golf was won by Mrs" A. Betts. Cricket resulted in favour of tho married men and the. scores were as follow: Married men.—First innings: F. Mills 5. F. Soothill 4, A. Soothill 4, C. Paterson jun. 6, Barribold 0,. C. Paterson sen. 6, J. W. Welham 2, J. Kissick 5, G. Luscombe 0, P. Cameron 4, Lind 0, J. Cameron 0, H. Eliason 6 /total 42. ' . Single men.—First innings: G. Revill 0, B. Berry 10/A. Langford 0, J. Collins 1, Andreoli 1-, I. Stevenson 0, Butterini 6, A. Gamlin 2, A. Burke 0, extras 2, total 22. In the second innings the married men made 61-for five wickets, C. Paterscon Jun. (33) being the highest scorer. The single men were all out for 66, A. Gamlin (26) making the best score. Dunn" the evening the Women’s (Division held a flag “500” social and dance in the Kapuni Hall and the winners were Mesdames H. Whalen and Walter Wheeler and Messrs C. Patereon sen. and J. Barribold. Mr Bert Eliason supplied the music for dancing.
