The two Union Company cargo yessels, the Wingatui and'the Hauraki, on which the watersiders refused to accept an engagement this morning were ■manned by free labour. * In response to an advertisement a large number of men, reported at the company’s office and were engaged'. Tlioy were taken to the Wingatui under police surveillance. When preparations were made to discharge the Wingatui the watersiders engaged on the Hauraki also ceased work. The latter had 4000 cases of fruit aboard, loaded at Apia. Free labour was transferred from the Wingatui to. discharge the fruit and the work is proceeding without untoward incident.
