That there are more than 26,000 ex-ser-vicemen’s files in tlrj records of the Auckland Patriotic and War Relief Association was mentioned by the secretary, Mr T. B. Kay. Many of these are now concerned with soldiers’ widows, to whom relief, when in necessitous circumstances, has been granted, for the toll of death has been .heavy. The files or Die living are concerned mainly with grants, allocations of work, and.' financial allowances pending the hearing of pension appeals. Many returned men who were of mature age at the time of enlistment are now definitely in the veteran stage, and the care of the disabled has to be considered for the future. In these circumstances the work of the Pensions Department, Patriotic Association and War Relief Association will continue to he important.
