11 CENTRE! POISE VS for 1935 FORD CENTREPOISE RIDING v<*^ fc. Hi jT" CRADLED BETWEEN THE WHEELS We call the amazing new comfort of the Ford V 8 for 1935 “Centrepoise Riding.” It results from a combination of three basic principles of design: CORRECT SPRING SUSPENSION, CORRECT WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION, CORRECT PASSENGER LOCATION. Front and rear transverse springs are more flexible. Front spring is 7£" longer and £" wider. It is mounted well ahead of the front axle. The new position gives a “spring-base” of 123|" ... an increase of 6-J" without increasing the the car. Spring leaf ends are tapered to distribute the load more evenly.... For correct weight distribution, engine has been moved forward 8£" and chassis designed to distribute car weight as equally as possible, on all four wheels. There is no excessive weight on front or rear wheels when passengers are carried. For correct passenger position, passengers on front or rear seats are closer to the centre of the car and more evenly spaced between the axles. Rear seat is 8" forward of rear axle.
