LAMBIE SHIELD BOWLING
IvAPONGA WINS FINAL. DEFEAT OF OIvAT'O PAIR. The Lambie Shield pairs bowling tournament was finalised on the Opunake green yesterday. Tait and Tyack (Kaponga) defeated Carey and Roebuck sen. The board read Tyack 6, Roebuck 5, after the first six heads. On the seventh head it was 6-all. On the eighth head Roebuck scored 3, Tyack failing to trail kitty far enough to save. v On the ninth head Tyack in turn scored 3. In the tenth head, Roebuck was lying two, when Tyack beautifully trailed kitty for four to lead 13—9.
After morning tea each scored two but after the 13th head Tyack led 18—11 and lie scored a three on the 14th head. In the next two heads Tyack improved his lead by two. On t'he 17th head Roebuck scored one. On the 18th head Tyack added three and on the I9th Roebuck also scored two. The Okato man had a four on the 20th head to keep the game alive, but Tyaek scored a single on the last head.
Tyack and Tait were runners-up last year to Baker and McCrone.
NORTH TARANAKI PLAY
The North Taranaki singles bowling championship was commenced yesterday. W. 11. Freeman (New Plymouth), R. H. Coombes (Fitzroy) and J. Chittenden (Waitara) had one life each and will compete in the semi-final and final.
Playing an almost perfect drawing game, K. Clark, of the Stratford Bowling Club heat A. Dickinson (Avon) by 22 to !i in the final of the central division howling championship yesterday, thus qualifying to meet the three other divisional champions to decide the champion of champions for Taranaki.
