MINISTERS’ VISIT TO LONDON. P • 1 MR. COATES UNLIKELY TO GO. (By Telegraph — Brass Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 7. Referring to runvours that the. Minis; ter of Finance might accompany ..him to England this year, the Prime Minister, the. Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, interviewed at Christchurch, said that it was very unlikely, for at present Mr Coates had his hands full dealing with the Mortgage Corporation Bill., Ho regretted that he would ndt have the benefit of Mr Coates’ adyice on matters concerning meat agreements. However, he would be assisted at London by the High Commissioner and members of the Meat Board. It was essential that some agreement should be reached soon.
He thought tjiat w-hen the Australian delegation arrived in London matters would be accelerated, and that there might be a possibility of a long-term agreement being reached before he left, the Dominion.
