BULK STORE ENTERED

— ' ATTEMPT TO BURGLE SAFE MARKS INDICATE INTENTIONS An attempt to force open the safe in the Farmers’ Co-operative Society’s bulk store, Union Stret, Hawera, was made by an intruder early this week. Entrance to the building was forced through a back door and then through another door into the main storeroom. When members of the staff arrived for work in the morning the padlock on the back door was found to be broken, while the hasp and staple on the second door had been smashed. Nothing had been taken and apparently the intruder made straight for the safe, in the office at the other end of the building. From marks on the safe it appeared that the burglar had used some sort of jemmy. No. material in the storeroom had been disturbed.
