At tlio meeting of the Conciliation Council in Wellington, the. Conciliation Commissioner, Air P. Hally, said it was one of the first meetings of a council at which the Hon. T. Bloodworth, of Auckland, had been present since his appointment to the Legislative Council. He congratulated 1 Air Bloodworth on his elevation, remarking that he had been an advocate for thirty years of the 40-liour week. Later in the day the 40-hour week was one of' the workers’ claims which, the Conciliation Council had to consider in dealing with the wages and conditions for carpenters and joiners. Air Bloodworth, as a. representative of the workers, having again to urge the benefits of its adoption.
