FARMERS APATHETIC
MORE INTEREST WANTED. ATTITUDE TOWARDS UNION. More support for the Earmers’ Union was urged by Mr W. A. Sheat at the meeting of the South Taranaki Executive this morning. He suggested that the . district be combed with the idea of getting more active support from farmers. “They do not attend the branch meetings,” he said, “and fake no interest whatever in the affairs of the Union.”
Mr J. S. Tosland said that although many farmers did not take an active interest in the affairs of the Union they weve 100 per cent, behind the organisation. The subject came up for discussion when the meeting was considering whether the services of the Dominion organiser should be availed of.
The secretary, Mr E. K. Cameron, suggested that the work be done by the secretaries and let them have the revenue obtainable from that source. It was decided to proceed along those lines and that local secretaries should be communicated with in order to get their views on the subject of organising. It was also agreed that the head office be advised that, the service of their organiser would not be required in the meantime.
