CAREER OF BORIS KARLOFF
Boris Karloff, who reached the heights of screen fame with liis performances in “Frankenstein,” “The Mummy)’ ’ and other so called horror films, was born in Dulwich, England, and educated at King’s College of London University for a career in the British Consular service. Instead of following the plans of his family, Karloff went to Canada, and eventually gravitated into acting on the stage and in pictures'. After making a living at all sorts of labouring jobs, his climb to screen recognition was slow but consistent and liis. current role in RKORadio Pictures’ “The Lost Patrol”
finds him a character star of very first rank. Incidentally, the part is the, first straight dramatic role, played without benefit of weird make-up, Karloff has had in some time. -His talk-, iug pictures include “Graft," “Smart Money," “ Five Star Final," “ Scarface," “The Miracle Man,” “The Mask of Fu M/mchu." “The Lost Patrol" will commence a two-niglit season at the Opera House to-morrow night.
