A species of moth-catcliing creeper grown in. a Hawera garden has proved, a most effective “trap ’ for white butterflies. Three flowers from one of the vines were brought to the “Hawera. Star” office this morning, two of which contained butterflies with their long tongues grasped, firmly by the peculiar construction of the nectar cups and the other a common brown moth which had suffered a similar fate. The creeper is blooming profusely at the present time and the white butterflies are being attracted in large by the perfume of •the flowers.
