HIGH SCHOOL SCORE WIN DEFEAT OF STRATFORD MARGIN OF NEARLY 40 RUNS LOW SCORING MATCH Iu a loav scoring match Hawera Technical High School defeated -Stratford Avith nearly 40 runs to spare. Stratford batted first and made 84, to Avhich High School replied with 121. Stratford had six wickets down with only 38 runs on the board, when Beal (24) and Adlam (20) retrieved the side’s fortune to a certain extent. They carried the total to 78, but the remaining three batsmen did little. Extras totalled 12. The School bowlers shared the wickets, but Sage AAdth three for 9 runs did best.

School opened even less promisingly than Stratford/ four Avickets being down for 16, of which E. Kirkby was responsible for 12. Mclvoy (27) and Thomson (21) were then associated in a useful partnership which carried School nearer their goal, but it Avas left to Whitehead (38) to place the issue out of doubt. Fours were not frequent. McKoy hit tAVO and Whitehead the same number. Extras Avere 21. McKenzie and Beal each took three Avickets. • .j a_. Scores are:—
