RETURNED SOLDIERS’ AFFAIRS
INCREASED CLUB FACILITIES
'POSITION OF HONORARY MEMBERS.
A report of the improvements effected in the service given members who attend the Returned Soldiers’ Club was favourably commented upon at the meeting of the executive committee of the South Taranaki Returned! Soldiers’ Association held yesterday evening. The position of honorary members was, given consideration and it was decided their subscription remain at 10s -6d per annum, and the secretary was instructed to encourage the enrolment of these people who did not see active service. They are to be accorded all club privileges other 'than the right to vote at meetings. Those present at the meeting were Messrs M. R. Jones (chairman), R. Mc-Cay, J. Cran, M. O. Crighton, A. E. Stevens, M. J. Squire, W. James, F. Foden, A. M. Young, D. McCormick and S. R. Veitch (secretary). Subsidies on wages amounting to £9 5s were paid during the month. These represented a total return to unemployed ex-servicemen of £2l 2s 6d.
Four additional pension cases were reported. Mr R. McCay, late secretary to the association, was appointed deputy chairman, to hold office during the currency of the present financial year.
