Unprecedented performances were registered by two competitors at'the Hawkes Bay swimming championships yesterday and Monday. R. Watkins (Hastings) who won the national mile at Auckland this month, captured five events—the 50, 100, 220, 440 and 880 yards, covering the last mentioned in 11.52 1-5, which is 6 4-o seconds ahead of his own previous record. Mavis Simmonds (Te Awa Club, Napier) won all the women’s free style events—the 50, ICO, 220, and 440 yards, and also the 100 yards backstroke.
