Among the passengers on the'Strathaird is Mr Frank Tarrant, the former Victorian cricketer, who is seeking TO arrange an Australian cricket team to arrange an Australian- 'cricket team to carry out a private tour of India at the request of the Maharajah of Patiala, who is providing £IO,OOO to cover the cost. Mr Tarrant said he had already approached a number of Australia’s leading cricketers on tho subject.; TEST GATE RECEIPTS. LONDON, Feb. 26.’ The gate receipts at last year’s Tests were: Nottingham, £14,569; Lords, £23,225; iManehester, £16,227; Leeds, £15,633; Oval, £18,655. The total of £88,322 exceeded the 1930 receipts by £11,032. RURAL ASSOCIATION. TEAM FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY A cricket match between the A team of the Rural Cricket Association and a South Taranaki Wednesday team will be played at Hawera on Wednesday, March 6, at 12.30. The following members are requested to attend and, if not available, acquaint the secretary imme’diately: Prankerd, Campbell, Hickey, B. Ryburn, W. Clark, R. Bocock, W. Arthur, S. Death, 11. Hughes, V. Howell, J. Linn, E. Gane, D. Skipper and P. Toro. The B team will play a team of colts at Taumata Park, Eltham, on Saturday, March 16. The team will be: G. Lewis, D. Knuckey, Stretton, Boddie, Gear, Ward, P. Martin, Roland, Sharpe, Pullen, A. Hughes, Hunger and Nairn.
