Behind the story of the signing of these two famous stars, whose names have been romantically iinxeG, lies thestory of the perseverance of the British film executives. They had the idea a. few months'ago that Mr Fairbanks and Miss Lawrence would make a wonderful co-starring film team, and invited
them .to make a film. Both Miss Lawrence and Mr Fairbanks jumped at the suggestion, but plans were held up for a considerable time as no suitable subject Could be found until Murger’s " Vic de Boheme? was suggested. Both Miss Lawrence and Mr Fairbanks agreed that the subject was ideal, and they signed the contract.
As their names have recently been romantically linked it is anticipated that Mr Fairbanks and Miss Lawrence will prove an ideal team of screen lovers. Ferocious Reptiles. A Los Angercs crocodile .* 'rami”, supplies the school of reptiles which is used in the new Laurel and Hardy fea-ture-length picture, “Babes in Toyland,” which will commence a twonight season at the Opera House on Saturday. The lizaru-like amphibians ranged in size from six to nine feet and were so ferocious that it was necessary to have armed guards stand by while expert swimmers, playing the role of .bogeymen, were in the water with them. According to experts, it is impossible to tame one of this species of the reptile family and the only way to insure absolute safety for a person working in the water with them is to securely tic up the massive jaws of the crocodile. As this would spoil the desired effect in the picture, guards were employed instead.
