SETH PARKER’S SOS

PICKED UP BY MAUI POMARE. USELESS TO GO TO RESCUE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, To-day. The American schooner Seth Parker’s SOS last week was picked up by the Government motor ship, Maui Pomare, which arrived at Wellington to-day from the Islands via Lyttelton. The Maui Pomare was then off Niue Island, the Seth Parker being SOO miles away. The master of the motor ship, learning that the 11.M.A.5. Australia had picked up the signals, decided it was useless to head for the schooner when the warship was already dashing to the rescue.
