HOMESTEAD DESTROYED

STRUCTURE RAZED TO GROUND. (By Telegraph—rxeea Association.j GORE, To-day. The well known WaiKaia homestead, the property of A. Christie and Sons, farmers, was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon. The building, a nineroomed, two-storied structure, was erected upwards of 40 years ago and occupied ever since by the Christie family. The fire was believed to have started in a superheater. There was a big fire in the range at the time for cooking. The cook was absent for a few; minutes, and on his return found the kitchen full of smoke. The blaze quickly spread, and Tazed the building to the ground. Nothing was saved. The insurance on the house was £750 and on the furniture £250.
