A cable message from New York states that leading merchants entertained at a testimonial dinner Mr. Edward Robinson, Auckland, who is departing to assume directorship of Milne and Clioyeo, Ltd. Mr. Dow, Australia, made a short address.
Mr M. Neal has been appointed honorary chief instructor for the district by the Wellington Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society. Major T. G. Hislop has been appointed honorary assistant instructor. The Governor-*Gonern.l received at Government House yesterday morning the chairman and members of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, who waited upon his Excellency in order to bid her Excellency and him farewell. His Excellency also received at Government House yesterday the president of the National Dairy Association of New Zealand, and other representatives of the dairying interests, who presented to their Excellencies an illuminated address from the dairy farmers of New Zealand.
