DAIRY BOARD CANDIDATES
FARMERS’ MEETING ADDRESSED
GOOD NATURED RAILLERY.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
PAHIATUA, Feb. 20.
The utmost good fellowship seems to exist amonst the candidates for the middle ward seat on the Dairy Board, six of whom addressed a meeting this morning of the Bush Dairy Factories’ Association. A ballot resulted in tho speakers stating their view in the following order: Messrs R. B. Sutton, A\ T . C. Green, C. G. C. Dermer, N. Campbell, A. Linton, B. Roberts. The candidates, undeterred, by a rather sparse attendance, were allowed twenty minutes, with ten minutes for questions. Some of the remarks were tinged with good natured raillery against opponents. The' two members of the present board expressed divergent views. Mr Green criticised the mutilated. feports of the board’s business appearing in the Exporter after censorship and maintained that the subsidy to the Exporter should 1 be abolished and the meetings thrown open to all sections of the Press to use their own discretion, ensuring fairer publicity for each member*
Air Dermer defended the Exporter, contending it was futile to make a. suggestion to throw the meetings open to the Press on account of too much business of a confidential nature. Ho admitted he had not been on a board where there was so much suspicion amongst the members. An undercurrent of feeling was always below the surface, tho reason {}>eing Lfk ff unity between one section of the industry and the other.
