PROGRESSIVE OPUNAKE

Steady Growth of Popular

Beach Resort

IDEAL SPOT FOR HOLIDAY MAKERS

CLAIMS TO BOROUGH STATUS

Possibly no town in Taranaki has advanced so much in popularity in the past few- years as Opunake, mainly, it is true, by virtue of the fact that the town possesses one of the finest beaches on the west coast. This fact lias been of material value to tho town, and the consequence is that what was a decade or so ago very little more than a township, has developed to the stage where borough status can he claimed for it. Its advancement is not that of mushroom growth, as the district behind it is of such a nature of solidity as to preclude such a possibility. While it is admitted that the town may have its boom periods as in the summer season when holidaymakers pay their annual visits, the townspeople always have that feeling of confidence in tho returns from a large dairying area with Opunake as the centre.
