ROTORUA COMPETITOR WINS

(By Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Feb. 19. The Annette Kellerman Cup, which is awarded for an annual swimming race of three miles in open water and is decided in conjunction with the national championships was w on, to-day by L. Yates, a member of the Maori team from Rlotorua. He had a start of 12 minutes from the scratch man, Webster (Auckland), with whom he fought out the closest finish in the 14 years the race has been contested, defeating him by three yards. Yates’ time was 2h 12m 355. Webster made the fastest time, 2h 0m 395, a fine achievement. Webster will receive the gold medal. Second fastest time, 21i 12m ss, was registered by L. G. Siliith (Auckland), who filled third place. There were 21 competitors, including four women. Misses Lewis Grey, Kathleen Bull, Jean Tingle and G. Galloway, ad of Auckland. The placing.--; were: L. AUCKLAND, Feb. 19. The final stage of the men’s and women’s diving' championships of New Zealand was decided at. the Mount Eden baths this morning, and after the points had been computed it was announced that W. Hassan (Auckland) and Miss M. Price (Wellington) had retained thoi 1* titles. The first stage was taken at the tepid baths last Saturday evening from the low board, and all the dives today were from the high board, each contestant doing eight. The final awards were: Men’s championship: W. Hassan (Auckland), 107.72 points, 1; A. AV. AVesney (Southland), 107.41 points, 2; ]>. Ewert (South Auckland), 00.10 points, 0. AVomcn’s championship: Miss At Price (Wellington), 64.13 points 1 ; Miss G. Pix (Otago), 55.44 points, 2; Airs E. C. Isaacs (Otago), 48.03 points 3.
