SEASIDE -SOCIETY MEETS. (From Our Own Correspondent). Tlic Opuuake Seaside Improvement Sdeiety committee met on Wednesday night. Those present were Messrs. A. Lambic (chairman), C. 11. Marcroft, L. Bourn, J. S. Smith. T. 11. 11. Sinclair, A. -Mackie, C. M. Clare, D. McCrouc, J. C.. Clouston, \V. A. Slieat, A. .1. Dawson and S. W. Smith (secretary). Apologies were received from Dr. Griffin and Mr C. \V illiams. The caretaker (.Mr C. Cameron) reported pn various matters appertaining to his duties. Adults were in the habit of using the small swing erected for tiny tots, as many as 10 adults having, been on the eight swings at once. It was decided to take action against offenders. He also applied for alterations to his storeroom, this being granted. Accounts totalling £3l 18s were passed for payment. Mr A. Lambie, in conjunction with the treasurer, was authorised to sign cheques on behalf of the society. A working bee is to be held during the coining week-end to clean up timber and to clean round the young: trees. The' public are invited to assist. The old bathing sheds are to lie put up for sale by auction on next sale dav. It was decided to paint the bathing sheds and also the campers kitchen. A request is to be made to the Opuuake Harbour Board to stop the removal of sand from the beach. The annual gala day was fixed for Wednesday, February 20, and a similar programme to last year was adopted. All schools in the Kgmont county are to be asked to hold their annual picnic on that date. The lease of the beach came up tor discussion and all members agreed that the beach as a public resort should be treated as a domain and be rate f-cc.
