GIFTS TO MR J. H. THOMAS (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.! LONDON, Jan. 16. Constituents of Derby, in recognition of Air J. H. Thomas’ representation of them in the House of Commons for 25 years, presented him with a checjue for £2250, which he returned for charities. He also received a gold watch and chain and his wife a dinner service. The Duke of Devonshire extolled Mr Thomas’ vision, imagination, and courage and said he would welcome him in the House of Lords.
Air Thomas emphasised his allegiance to the working class which he would never denv.
