Hutchison, while in Australia observed the milk supply system in Melbourne and Sydney and said that people in both cities would consider themselves fortunate if they had to pay no more than w r as paid in Auckland. The price in Sydney was 8d a quarter for raw milk and 7d for pasteurised. In Melbourne raw milk cost ■s3d and pasteurised f>3d.
